In the News: A closer look at Meg Walsh, candidate for Texas District 5
What makes you qualified for this position?
I am the most qualified candidate in the race. I have 25 years of experience in finance, contracts, and project management which spans a number of industries, including energy, oil & gas, technology, aviation, and retail. I successfully managed IT risk audits for dozens of Texas state agencies and know how the state of Texas works. Through my work at ERCOT, which manages the Texas grid, I learned firsthand about the Texas Energy Market.
I built my career while raising my daughter as a single mother and giving back to my community. I care deeply about people and have dedicated my life in service to my community. I volunteered for our active duty combat members as a Soldier’s Angel and raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Ronald McDonald Houses in Austin and Dallas. In 2008, I received the Elizabeth McHose Parker Williamson County Volunteer of the Year award for my advocacy on behalf of survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. I have mentored teen mothers and at-risk youth. I have also testified at the Texas Capitol multiple times on health funding for children, LGBTQ rights, and women’s access to reproductive health care.
